The aim of this work package is the development of a versatile surgical navigation framework based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology to improve execution of orthopedic and neuro surgeries. This includes real-time in-situ holographic visualization of preoperative planning information as well as localization of surgical tools. Consequently, intuitive feedback is provided to surgeon(s) intra-operatively augmenting her/his understanding of the scene. Furthermore, surgical workflow analysis enables this feedback to be displayed time-coherently according to the current progress of the surgery. AR-navigation will hence help to improve post-operative outcome by enhancing surgeon skills.
